Brewers Droop 5 - 2002

The significant increase in numbers at last years Droop meant a return to Belvedere was 2002 was assured and despite a slow start the weekend turned out to be another cracker.  Friday nights first band were The Threads who unfortunately did not live up to expectations on this outing.  The VfM boys on the decks soon had the dancefloor filled before ska-punk outfit 40 Dead Camels took to the stage with their set of self penned numbers and kept the audience up for it!

As always Saturday began with a large number of trade stalls setting out their wares to tempt us to part with hard earned cash.  However it also saw the arrival of a number of scooterists from across The Channel, with half a dozen Belgians and 11 French riders swelling the numbers beyond 1000 and ensuring that we had passed another milestone!

This years 5-a-side (won by Warrington SC) was brought forward to dinner time in order to allow for an outdoor performance by The Detours who put on a fine set including classics Down in the Tubestation, You Really Got Me and Tin Soldier.  This was quickly followed by the Scooter Challenge, a small gymkhana course with lashings of water thrown in as riders negotiated their way around the tight course.  To keep the kids happy a face painter, magician and bouncy castle were all provided.

Next up and supposedly for the adults only was the bungee pull.  Yet more water and plenty of soap saw loads of you willing to pit yourself against the mighty elastic band in an attempt to win a can of Burton's finest brew.  This soon became a wet T-shirt contest before one female punter chose to take part topless in order to raise 100 for charity.  This years sizeable custom show included Top Banana, Insane Innocenti and Yeah Baby Yeah among 40 or so other machines.

Saturday night again saw DC Fontana headlining but with a new set of numbers including Do I Love You, Keep on Running and Substitute before the night was rounded off with an excellent Indie session.  Overall another top weekend.
