Brewers Droop 6 - 2003

Brewers Droop 2003 will, to us, mostly be remembered as the rally that so nearly didn't happen.  The Belvedere Club was under new management and up to the Wednesday beforehand the local council was still unable to grant a late licence.  However almost at the death a deal was done and the rally was on.

Friday again saw large numbers arrive.  By the time the first band, 10 O'Clock Scholars came onstage the hot sun of the daytime was beginning to cool but the band put on a superb performance of mostly original numbers with just a handful of covers thrown in, to really heat things up again.  Pitchie and Tony 1 Shirt kept things going whilst outside a late BBQ served up a wide range of delicacies.  By the time The Jamm came on stage the night was red hot!  The band proved a big draw thrashing out all the hits from Britain's finest trio.

Saturday mornings hot sun attracted another record number of riders to the weekender and although we were enjoying mid summer some of those attending had other ideas.  A large group chose to begin their Christmas celebrations with tents bedecked with tinsel and Santa making an unseasonal appearance.  Elsewhere Tony 1 Shirt was spinning disks on request (and trying to prevent them from melting) in return for donations to charity and this years Scooter Challenge took place on our Duck-Speed Vespa.

The Burton Bungee again proved popular with punters desperate for the chance to strip off, get wet and cool down in searing temperatures.

Kids entertainment included a clown, face painting and the regular bouncy castle.

The excessive temperatures saw many choose to stay outside of the do on Saturday night.  Those who did so missed a fantastic set from Skaville including great covers of Monkey Man,  Pressure Drop, Stupid Marriage and Soul Bouncing.  All credit to them for keeping their arrangement together despite an unscheduled break caused by some idiot setting off the fire alarm.  Still at least the attendance of a dozen firemen with their big red appliances kept most of the women amused during the interval.
